  • The Marist-LdM Italian Language Bachelor’s degree offers invaluable insight into the history and continuing influence Italy has in today’s global landscape. Students in this major or minor work closely with faculty and peers in Florence, while promoting communication and dialogue in a multicultural educational environment.

The program aims to enrich students’ instruction by helping them gain in-depth knowledge of the language and culture of Italy as they acquire solid training in the humanities and engage in analytical work. Through this, they develop critical thinking and communication skills necessary to continue their education or pursue a career in domestic and international fields.

The Bachelor’s in Italian Language curriculum draws on the strength of a broad multidisciplinary course structure where students can expand their cultural literacy and language skills by integrating a variety of subjects from fields which include business, communications, education, fashion, and history. This comprehensive approach prepares those with a major or minor in the subject for careers with Italian or Italian American communities and institutions in the United States and abroad or as a stepping stone to further their education.

The diverse and dynamic country of Italy on which the course is focused allows students dedicated to studying a foreign language the unique opportunity to take advantage of the various LdM sites. LdM offers individual placements and facilitates exchange programs especially suited to sophomores or juniors wanting to study in Florence or Tuscania in Italian-speaking environments. Students are also afforded a wide range of extracurricular activities such as clubs and organized cultural events devised to offer a comprehensive educational experience.
