About Course

  • 3 Years
  • Full-time

  • The Film & Screen degree bridges the gap between traditional film-making and the fast-changing technological landscape of the 21st century.

Your first year focuses on core creative processes involved in film, TV and digital media. You’ll develop practical skills in screenwriting, producing, editing and production management. The second and third years are dedicated to your chosen pathway, enabling you to develop the specialist skills needed to work in a specific area of the industry.

    The Screenwriting & Producing Pathway

The Screenwriting & Producing pathway aims to develop the next generation of scriptwriter-producers.

You’ll learn how to write and produce a wide variety of works, including a commercial and a one-hour TV drama series. As well as developing your creative skills, you will gain an understanding of the commercial elements such as fundraising, promotion and distribution.

You’ll also have the option to study abroad at one of our international partners to broaden your understanding of this global industry.

This degree offers the intensive training needed to break into this exciting industry. You will graduate with a professional portfolio of creative writing and self-produced films that you can showcase to potential employers.

This programme aims to equip you with the full range of skills needed to work as a writer, director or producer in the TV or film industry - and to understand the roles of many others you will work with in the future. You will gain production and management expertise, together with industry-standard skills in script evaluation and the ability to write high-quality scripts yourself.

Graduates from this programme have gone on to work with national TV broadcasters and international film studios, or have started up their own production companies.
