About Course

  • 3 Months
  • Full-time |40 hours or 80 hours (around 10 - 20 hours of lessons per week) | 1 to 3 months long | Certificate of attendance

  • The Accademia Italiana is an international school with students coming from all over the globe. This is why it created a top-level Department of Italian Language and Culture, whose activities include summer courses in both Florence and Rome.

    In the months of June, July, and August, this Department offers a variety of courses in the Italian language and culture, aimed at students with different levels of competence in the subject. Each month is devoted to a different level and includes 40 hours of teaching (regular course) or 80 hours (intensive course). Additionally, it is possible to attend individual, one-to-one tailor-made lessons.

    A placement test determines whether the student should attend the beginners', intermediate or advanced class.

    Regardless of the level, each course includes the following activities:

    • An approach to written texts in Italian;
    • Conversation;
    • Use of audio-visual aids;
    • Viewing of films in the Italian language followed by discussions.

    There are also a number of leisure and cultural activities, which foreign students are encouraged to share with their Italian colleagues.

    • Students will learn Italian by conducting grammatical exercises and participating in conversation sessions.
    • The basic level course begins with elementary components of the language to introduce the principal linguistic structures of Italian.
    • The intermediate level provides a more in-depth study of Italian, enriching students’ vocabulary and knowledge of grammar and improving pronunciation.
    • The advanced level concentrates on written compositions and the use of Italian in specific situations.
    • Courses at all levels will include conversation, audiovisual aids, and the study of literary texts.
