Diploma in International Culinary Arts

The ICI Diploma in International Culinary Arts offers students, who wish to pursue a career within the culinary industry, a comprehensive culinary management education. With a 70% theory - 30% practical split, there is a strong emphasis on developing students' operational management knowledge and understanding alongside the development of basic kitchen skills.

        Higher Diploma in International Culinary Arts

        This is an advanced professional cookery programme designed to provide a strong theoretical and practical knowledge and the skills needed to work in a professional culinary environment.

        Following IMI's 70% theory to 30% practical approach, students will learn transferable management skills to prepare them to manage a professional kitchen and in readiness for paid, practical training which will be organised by our Careers and Internships team. The course is made up of a series of practical and theory based units with a variety of assessment types including examinations, coursework, essays, reports, group and individual projects and presentations.

        Bachelor of Arts with Honours in International Culinary Arts

        This advanced programme is suitable for those who have already completed Higher Diploma or a UK Associate Degree in International Culinary Arts or equivalent. Tuition has both practical and academic elements preparing our graduates to cope with the demands and challenges of the professional kitchen. With a 70% focus on theoretical skills and 30% practical based, the emphasis is on state of the art technical skills and transferable advanced business and management skills to enable you to work at the highest professional levels. Concentrating on modern-day gastronomy, students will be challenged to develop new culinary products suitable for today's marketplace. Students will graduate from this programme equally well equipped to manage their own culinary business or run and work in the kitchen of a high-end restaurant or hotel.

Focusing on key strategic management skills in the hospitality and events industries, the programme offers a broad insight into operational management, planning and strategy within the international arena. There is the opportunity to undertake paid work placements, either in Switzerland or internationally, on completion of the study semesters, offering the chance for CV-enhancing, practical experience in the industry.         The Swiss Degree in International Hospitality Management (Dip.
