This dynamic short course focuses on image and the development of style in fashion together with key business practices that work hand in hand to drive the success luxury brands. By understanding both the role and influence of the fashion stylist within a business environment, participants gain a unique insight into the real influence and ‘power’ of image within the fashion industry. Participants learn how to evaluate, enhance and complement physical characteristics to develop an individual style and put together of a ‘total look’. Taking forward their own styling ideas they are introduced to the business of ‘style’; fashion brand identity, brand image and collection positioning, competitor analysis, and merchandising are just some of the issues addressed.
Week 1: The first week begins with an overview of economic and social trends. Understanding economic and social evolution and how this influences fashion consumption is an important part of this course. Participants study and explore key periods in history that represent past and present styles, future fashion trends and the elements that characterize and influence them. Furthermore, in order to understand the role of the stylist participants will be guided in sourcing and collating information from research tools such as books and fashion magazines and through specific virtual domains relevant to fashion and luxury.
Week 2: This week begins with an overview of the fashion & luxury industries including for example: textiles, clothing, accessories, cosmetics, eyewear and jewellery. Participants take a look at critical factors defining the success of some leading Italian and international brands as well as brand image. At this point in the course participants also begin to bring together their research from the previous week to define a particular individual style as well as conducting iconographic research, and understanding key notions in photo shoot planning and narrative.
Week 3: In the last week participants look at key practices in the marketing and communication of image and style, as well as key components in distribution, product lifecycle, and price points. They evaluate the impact of style on consumer activity, merchandising and sales, both offline and online, and apply their knowledge to develop a basic illustrated marketing plan. Participants are also able to bring together their style research (the importance of colour, silhouette, accessories and their combination) and present an individual style concept linked to their marketing proposal, collating their work for presentation in an individual stylebook.

This short course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of fashion design, how to formulate ideas and translate them into a visual representation. Participants will be introduced to key notions in the fashion design process, to basic drawing and illustration techniques, and the study of trends. The course also explores the role of the fashion designer with participants working on creative research for an individual design collection via a vocational learning approach.
Week 1: The start of the course introduces fashion drawing and design techniques followed by an analysis of the founding principles of developing a fashion collection including: silhouette, colour charts, fabrics and accessories, right through to the design and creation of outfits. Participants are then introduced to the silhouette, colour palettes, the appropriate use of fabrics, and the principle financial considerations of designing for fashion.
Week 2: Starting from creative research to foster personal inspiration, participants are guided to develop basic silhouettes and coordinate outfits with fabric and colour selection. The focus on trend research looks into its origins together with market relevance, and a brief analysis on how trends influence a contemporary collection.
Week 3: Based on inspiration linked to a selected theme, participants put together a basic fashion design collection supported by appropriate technical information, including colour charts, inspirational materials or mood board. Participants put into practice the acquired knowledge from the previous weeks and prepare a presentation of their work as a basic collection portfolio, to receive a final holistic critique.

This 12-month modular programme awards participants with a Master’s Degree issued from MIP- Politecnico di Milano and an Istituto Marangoni Diploma, granting 60 ECTS credits to students who successfully complete all modules.

Working on a limited time frame, this intensive fashion course provides the key technical and theoretical concepts related to fashion design and the fashion industry, looking at womenswear, menswear and accessories design, as well as an introduction to the study of materials and fabrics, and research applied to the individual design process. From freehand drawing techniques and the basics of clothing manufacture, participants quickly progress onto more technical aspects of fashion design such as fabric analysis, garment structure, and an introduction to manufacturing and production.

Short courses cover a variety of subjects, levels and duration to suit all preferences, and are also the perfect ‘taster’ or introduction to fashion programmes, useful when considering more intensive study, or for future career path development.
This short course provides an introduction to the fundamentals of fashion design, how to formulate ideas and translate them into a visual representation. Participants will be introduced to key notions in the fashion design process, to basic drawing and illustration techniques, and the study of trends. The course also explores the role of the fashion designer with participants working on creative research for an individual design collection via a vocational learning approach.
Week 1: The start of the course introduces fashion drawing and design techniques followed by an analysis of the founding principles of developing a fashion collection including: silhouette, colour charts, fabrics and accessories, right through to the design and creation of outfits. Participants are then introduced to the silhouette, colour palettes, the appropriate use of fabrics, and the principle financial considerations of designing for fashion.
Week 2: Starting from creative research to foster personal inspiration, participants are guided to develop basic silhouettes and coordinate outfits with fabric and colour selection. The focus on trend research looks into its origins together with market relevance, and a brief analysis on how trends influence a contemporary collection.
Week 3: Based on inspiration linked to a selected theme, participants put together a basic fashion design collection supported by appropriate technical information, including colour charts, inspirational materials or mood board. Participants put into practice the acquired knowledge from the previous weeks and prepare a presentation of their work as a basic collection portfolio, to receive a final holistic critique.

This dynamic intensive course trains participants on essential technical and theoretical aspects related to the development of creative content for fashion (photography, video, styling and art direction). For those with limited time available, this course focuses on visual communication investigating the many different aspects of fashion styling, using images and multimedia contents to persuade, inspire, and create an emotional response.
The work of a fashion stylist must be both strategic and creative: attentive to the historical context and culture of fashion, to current trends and developments in the industry, and yet still remaining consistent with a client’s brief or brand identity.

This programme targets candidates aspiring to a career in the brand and/or product management fields within the fragrance and cosmetic industry. It will cover every aspect of the brand and product managers’ role, including motivating consumers, creating desire, building trust, merchandising, product development, marketing, branding and communication skills to build a successful brand vision and strategy and reach new markets.
This full-time three-year programme provides comprehensive knowledge of the lifecycle of luxury-level perfume and cosmetic products, with valuable insights into product development, storytelling and industry-specific brand management strategies. The plan of study combines theory and hands-on practice to promote interaction between all those involved in creating and marketing fragrances and beauty products, including skincare and make-up. Students will explore critical issues related to the planning, development, production, omnichannel distribution, buying, branding and marketing of fragrances and cosmetics with a focus on licensing. They will learn to combine creative acumen, technical expertise and strategic thinking, turning imaginative ideas into successful products.

This foundation course develops critical independent thinking and practical ability for undergraduate level study. Upon successful completion participants reach the necessary level to be able to apply for one of the BA (Hons) Degree programmes or for a Three Year Course. Istituto Marangoni one-year foundation courses prepare participants for entry into any of the three-year undergraduate degree programmes, or three year courses, in the fashion or design fields. On this course graduates nurture essential soft skills needed for personal growth and development, improve their professional profile through employment related study topics, and have the possibility to undertake a period of practical work experience within a fashion company. The overall aim of the course is in communicating readiness for employment. Companies are constantly on the look out for talented fashion graduates at all levels that also have communication, leadership, observational, and problem solving skills, as well as being adaptable, reliable, independent, multilingual and professional. This course focuses on topics that evolve around employment, covering issues in work ethics, personal branding, communication, presentations, and public speaking, as well as fashion law and entrepreneurship.
Participants also investigate issues on corporate culture and enjoy a series of guest speakers and VIP talks, learning at first hand from experts in the industry. The core of the programme is constructed around a 3-6 month period of work experience within a fashion company related to participants main area of study, for example in fashion design or accessories, and in all areas of fashion business covering merchandising, communication, and styling to name just a few. During this work experience participants gain practical exposure to the workplace, working with industry professionals on real business issues including handling workload and time management in the fast paced world of fashion. Personal development is further assisted through one-to-one guidance and group workshops on career development, portfolio presentation, and homepage and online profile management. Foreign language study further supports professional development for any future international working environment. Participants complete the course with a reflective journal and personal presentation package that fully reflects their study specialisation, their skills and industry experience gained on the programme, communicating their ability and readiness for employment at a professional level.
