Experience economy is distinctive from service economy, focusing on the way consumers enjoy their experience rather than the product or service itself. This pathway explores the rise, viability and impact of the events and experience industry and gives you the practical skills needed to understand, and act upon, the demands and challenges of creating and managing bespoke experiences in global markets.
Building on a strong business management foundation, you’ll learn how to conceptualise and plan events while handling all aspects of the management process, including venue selection, operations, logistics, design, marketing and health & safety. You’ll also learn to work with the unique demands, needs and challenges of your clientele while exploring how your decisions can influence consumers, stakeholders, partners, employees and shareholders. Adopt a luxury angle and enhance consumer experiences by making use of technology, storytelling and targeted content – profiling customers and implementing creative campaigns using AI, big data and social media.
Practical, experience-based simulations and challenges with industry experts will expose you to real-world business issues and give you the strategic skills to combat them. You’ll have the option to undertake an independent placement or enterprise project to gain further industry experience, or you can study abroad for a term at one of Regent’s international partners to broaden your understanding of management and enterprise in a global context. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn a new language – preparing you to work in an international arena.
A global perspective is a core aspect. Learning about other cultures and interacting with students from all over the world will prepare you to work in the global business arena. You will also have the opportunity to learn a new language.
This degree will train you as an innovative experience manager, who is able to create bespoke events that meet the unique demands and needs of your clientele.
Successful completion of this degree will equip you with the skills and attributes you will need to lead people and projects in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Your flexible, informed and proactive approach will enable you to pursue a career as a leader, manager, strategist or entrepreneur in many different sectors across the world.

The MA Psychotherapy & Counselling will give you a broad knowledge of psychotherapy and the work of key historical and contemporary figures. Through a mix of academic work and practical experience you will gain knowledge and understanding of various approaches to psychotherapy. The programme will prepare you for psychotherapy practice by developing your skills in the safe environment of the classroom and by supporting your work whilst you are in clinical placement.
You will be taught a range of theoretical perspectives, covering existential, psychoanalytic, humanistic and integrative approaches. You will be encouraged to discuss, give constructive feedback, and debate current issues in psychotherapy.
The programme will help you develop your individual approach to psychotherapy and counselling, and reflect upon your personal beliefs and prejudices. You will learn to apply your theoretical knowledge and acquired skills in an approved clinical placement under the supervision of experienced practitioners.
At the end of the second year you will choose the pathway to follow on the third year of your studies. You can specialise in integrative psychotherapy via the integrative pathway, or existential psychotherapy via the existential pathway, or you can undertake a significant piece of research in the field via the dissertation pathway.
For those choosing the dissertation pathway there are five days of research methods seminars designed to assist students to complete the dissertation in year three. We encourage our students to publish their work in academic books or journals.
You are required to remain in once-weekly individual psychotherapy with a UKCP registered therapist throughout your training. The Programme espouses a reflexive practitioner approach which, combined with the personal and professional reflection encouraged by the experiential group and personal therapy, promotes a strong professional identity. This enables students to work in a variety of settings such as medical care, research agencies, charities, social services, and private practice.
Upon successful completion of the taught MA Psychotherapy & Counselling, you will be eligible to apply for our postgraduate certificate programme in either integrative or existential psychotherapy, the final stage of your training for eligibility to apply to become a UKCP registered psychotherapist.
After completing the three-year taught programme, you may wish to progress onto the Postgraduate Certificate in Integrative Psychotherapy or Postgraduate Certificate in Existential Psychotherapy, the final stage of the four-year training that leads to eligibility for UKCP registration.
Regent’s School of Psychotherapy & Psychology is an accredited organisational member of the UKCP and the MA Psychotherapy & Counselling is UKCP accredited.
We aim to educate students to become skilful and ethical professionals able to think independently, critically and creatively, and undertake highly responsible jobs. Employment opportunities are wide ranging, with our graduates pursuing careers in NHS hospitals, GP practices, universities, colleges and schools, counselling centres, agencies offering specialised counselling, and private practice. Some graduates continue in their existing careers, working as practitioners on a part time, private basis.
Achievement of MA will enable you to pursue research to MPhil/PhD level, or use the theoretical knowledge and communication skills in writing and/or teaching in the field.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Integrative Psychotherapy (PGCIP) constitutes the final stage of training to become a professionally registered integrative psychotherapist through the Humanistic and Integrative College of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
Integrative psychotherapy is based on the belief that there is no single or universal approach to therapeutic practice. Rather, an effective clinical practice incorporates a range of different approaches that focus on building a trusting therapeutic relationship between the client and the psychotherapist. It is understood that only through this integrated approach can both the client and the psychotherapist begin their transformative journey together.
The PGCIP explores a range of diverse perspectives to enable you to develop your own integrative clinical practice. Throughout your training, you’ll be encouraged to incorporate and embody these theoretical approaches in your personal life as well as your clinical practice.
It is commonly accepted that the therapeutic relationship, rather than a theoretical approach, is the active ingredient in integrative psychotherapy. The PGCIP therefore espouses a reflexive approach that places emphasis on experience over theory. Experiential exercises and personal therapy sessions will give you the opportunity to explore yourself in a safe space. This critical reflection will enhance your self-awareness and help you develop into an ethical practitioner who is able to work in different settings with a wide variety of clients.
Throughout your training, you’ll be expected to work with at least three adult clients on a minimum basis of once a week. For the award of PGCIP, you are required to complete a minimum of 100 clinical hours during the taught element of the programme. For UKCP accreditation, you are required to complete 450 clinical hours in total. The total you accrue will include the hours acquired during previous training.
You will also be expected to participate in weekly personal psychotherapy sessions with a UKCP-registered therapist.
As a qualified integrative psychotherapist, you will hold a privileged position which requires humility and discernment. Our training will teach you how to uphold clinical standards of practice and work competently, humanely and ethically with the most vulnerable members of society.
Upon successful completion of the PGCIP, you will be eligible for professional registration with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) through the Humanistic and Integrative College.
UKCP membership
The School is an accrediting organisation within the Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy College (HIPC) of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). The PGCIP is the final stage of training leading to UKCP registration. Membership requires the completion of a minimum of 450 hours of supervised clinical practice, which must also be supervised by a training supervisor of the School.
British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) accreditation
At the end of the course, you may have accrued enough training hours to apply for individual accreditation with BACP. Please note that BACP also requires candidates to show evidence of 450 hours of supervised clinical practice. Application to BACP can only be done by the individual and the School is unable to play a role in this process.

The Postgraduate Certificate in Existential Psychotherapy (PGCEP) constitutes your final year of training and leads to professional registration as an existential psychotherapist through the Society for Existential Analysis of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
The training programme will take you on a transformative journey that will challenge your understanding of human existence and change the way you see yourself and relate to others.
You will learn how to employ a philosophical approach to explore and embrace the complexity of human existence. This phenomenological practice nurtures enquiry, radical openness, and a fresh gaze upon the world and human beings.
Experiential encounter exercises are underpinned by rigorous academic study. This combined approach will encourage you to reach beyond your cognitive and rational understanding of human existence in order to develop a more embodied therapeutic practice. It will prepare you with the skills and knowledge to connect with others in their ambiguity and complexity, and together begin a relational process of deep exploration.
Group seminars are designed to encourage you to question your own beliefs, values and principles. In these sessions, you will need to be courageous, to balance openness with circumspection and be willing to explore moments of discomfort with others in the group.
Personal and professional development sessions serve as an important element of your learning process. Through peer feedback and critical reflection, you will develop a deeper understanding of self in relation to others as well as their relationship to and use of issues such as power, freedom, responsibility, boundaries, limitations and strengths. This critical awareness will enable you to develop into a well-informed and ethical practitioner who able to work in different settings with a wide variety of clients.
Throughout your training, you’ll be expected to work with at least three adult clients on a minimum basis of once a week. For the award of PGCEP, you are required to complete a minimum of 100 clinical hours during the taught element of the programme.
